290*: So, how have you been?

Posted: 17 October 2016 in 2017 minus

It’s been a while since I’ve used this place, been a long time since I’ve blogged at all. For lots of reasons, oh so many reasons, 2016 has been a weird year for me, just as it’s been a strange year for pretty much everyone I know.

It’s not like there’s been a shortage of things about which to blog, but as I say… reasons.

But, I’ve been feeling the itch again, that impossible-to-scratch-any-other-way itch to blog again.

Long time followers of this blog, and of me on Twitter, know that I have done daily countdown blogs over the past few years. A fifty day countdown to 2014 was the first. Then a fifty day countdown to my fiftieth birthday was the first. Then a fifty day countdown blog to 2015, then a fifty day countdown – mainly but not exclusively on politics – to the 2015 UK General Election. And then an aborted one counting down to 2016.

You can see where this is going, right?

Well, we’re not quite at fifty days until New Year 2017, but as of today, there are 76 days to go.

So, a seventy-five day countdown. Starting tomorrow.

Why not?

Why not indeed.

So, as of tomorrow, we’ll start. Well, I’ll start writing it, and hopefully, you’ll start reading it. What’ll be in it? Some thoughts on current UK politics, some new short fiction, US politics, comic books, some old short fiction, comedy, some stuff about London, some slice of life stuff, some Saturday Smiles… and probably some thoughts on those for whom 2016 was their last year on earth.

So, the usual, then.

See you tomorrow.

(*366 minus 76 = 290)

  1. Looking forward to it.
